After we got to the hospital things went pretty fast. I was dilated to about 5 1/2 when I arrived. About an hour later I got the blessed epidural! I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t want this relief from pain and discomfort! I couldn’t feel any pain but I could still move my legs; it was terrific!
My mom arrived at the hospital after I got the epidural and I was happy to see her. Both of my moms (Becky, Dave’s mom) were there for the birth of Madison. I was grateful they were there because Madison had her first bowel movement inside me and Dave and I needed the extra support.
I was dilated to a 10 somewhere between 9:30 and 10:00 and I had to wait to push until Dr. Nance arrived. I was glad that he was in town; I found out that day that he just recently got back into town. When he arrived they got me all prepped and the respiratory therapist and NICU team were waiting to assess if Madison was in any danger from the meconium. I did three rounds of pushing and Madison was born on Tuesday, March 1 at 10:37 am.
They quickly rushed Madison over the NICU team and began working on her. I was sad I didn’t get to see her, but I wanted her to be okay. My mom took pictures and showed them to me on her camera so I could see what was going on. They brought Madison over to me so I could hold her while they explained that they were going to take her to the NICU just to be safe. I was so scared for her safety I couldn’t enjoy the first time I held my sweet baby girl.
Dave and I were really worried about her and our nerves were shot since we went to that funeral the day before. We said a prayer for Madison and my dad came to the hospital to help Dave give her a blessing.
After a few hours Madison was doing great and I got to see her again. She is such a beautiful baby. Below are some pictures of her at the hospital.

Madison and I came home Thursday. I was glad to be home! No more hospital bed!
