So the time has finally come in my life where I have found that special someone and couldn't imagine how much I could love and adore her and so as in the normal flow of things, I asked her to marry me! Let me share with you the story of how the night played out. As I was thinking of how to ask Erin to marry me the thought came in to my mind to do something simple yet romantic. Last week as I was thinking I had a wonderful idea and worked through it and this is how last Thursday went...
On Thursday we were planning on going to one of our favorite restaurants and introducing Jen, my little sister, to it. I kept Erin thinking that was still the plan, but secretly I had something else planned.

The restaurant was Gloria's Little Italy (it's the most amazing Italian food!) and I went there earlier that day and talked to the owners, who are some of the nicest people, and asked if I could reserve the second floor of the restaurant for an hour so that I could propose. They were so pleased to accomodate my request and loved the thought of us using their restaurant for our special night. I went there about an hour before Erin and I were planning on having dinner and with the help of my little sister, Jen, we decorated one of the tables on the top floor with candles and rose petals to make it a little more special.

After I made final arrangements with the owners and our waiter, I went and picked Erin up from work and we headed off to the restaurant. As we walked in the restaurant we were greeted very warmly by everyone and I was hoping that Erin wouldn't catch on that we were greeted a little differently. Our waiter started to walk us to the stairs and then as I had arranged with him he told us to just go upstairs and pick any table we wanted and he would be up in a few minutes to take our order. Erin went up the stairs first, and as she got to the top she turned around and asked which table I wanted to sit at. I told her that we should sit at the table in the corner and pointed to the table Jen and I had decorated. As Erin looked at it, she took a quick inhale of breath and turned to me and had a smile on her face, as she started to realize what was going on I pulled her into a hug and told her how much I loved her, how much she meant, and how I couldn't wait to spend the rest of my life with her. (Side note, I've never proposed before:) so this whole time, I was shaking and Erin says it was cute so I guess it's ok:)). After I said those things, I got down on one knee and opened the ring box and asked Erin if she would marry me. Before I could even fully finish the sentence, she said yes! We then walked over and sat down and had a very romantic dinner all alone on the second floor of our new, absolute favorite restaurant.:)

Little Italy was so great to us that night, not only were they ecstatic about the proposal and let us have the entire upper floor to ourselves but they gave us drinks for free and insisted that we have a dessert on the house also! As we finished and walked downstairs, all the employees rushed to Erin and wanted to see her ring. As she was talking I went and thanked the owners and they handed me a marker and told us that we had to write on their wall.

So we left a message on Little Italy's wall and and then left the restaurant as an officially engaged couple. It was one of the greatest nights of my life and I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful, amazing, kind, breath taking (I can keep going if you want:)) woman as my future wife!

Congratulations! We are absolutely thrilled for you. We look forward to meeting Erin. You really "lucked out" Dave, and Erin is really lucky to have you, too.

ReplyDeleteCongrats, Dave! She's so cute!!! I can't wait to meet her. She's a lucky girl :) Grandma sent me an email a couple days ago saying she would be coming down soon for your wedding and I thought I was so out of the loop. I'm so glad you blogged about it so I know the whole story now! Although I wouldn't mind hearing it from the two of you in person :) Think you'll have time to come to one of our fast Sunday dinner's? Or if you're in the Salt Lake area we'd love to have you over to our new place. So happy for you!! --Annette
