Food Frenzy

We started feeding Madison rice cereal the end of July. She loved it! I think she was ready to eat solid food when she was 4 months old. She was always so interested in everything we were eating. Now she can't get enough. I am excited to start feeding her fruits and vegetables. However, I am not excited to start smelling it in her diaper. Here are some pictures from her first experience.

5 Months Already!

Madison is already 5 1/2 months! It seems like yesterday we were taking her home from the hospital. She is such a feisty, fun, energetic, happy girl. She has now mastered the army crawl and can get anywhere that she wants to go. Her favorite things right now are computers, cell phones, remotes, drinking water from a big girl cup, talking loudly during church (especially prayers and the sacrament), eating rice cereal, and being the center of attention. She is definitively keeping us busy and we love her so much! Here are some pictures from the past month.

Poop Explosion!

A couple Sundays ago I had to teach the Beehives in the third hour at church. I made sure that Madison was well fed so she would be a good girl for Dave in Elder’s Quorum. However, about halfway through my lesson I see Dave through the window of the door. I go out to see what was wrong and I see poop all over his white shirt and tie. I have never seen so much poop outside of Madison’s diaper! I felt really bad but I couldn’t help laughing. Apparently, Dave stood up to conduct Elder’s Quorum and when he got to the front of the room someone kindly said “I think she pooped out of her diaper.” Madison hadn’t pooped for probably about 20 hours so she decided to let it all out on daddy’s shirt. We learned a lesson that day: Always put a onesie under a dress so the poop will be more contained. It is a good thing she is cute; she can get away with anything!

Dave took this picture himself. You can kind of get the idea, but it was much worse than it looks. This picture is after Dave cleaned himself off. He said that he even had little flecks of poop on his face. Gross!

First Outing

At 7 weeks old we decided to go with my family to Wolf Creek up Ogden Canyon.
I thought Madison’s first vacation was going to be so much fun, but vacationing
with a newborn isn’t as much fun as you would think. While we were there I missed
consistency, our comfortable rocking chair, and my bed. It was difficult to get Madison
to sleep at night and even more difficult to not wake anyone up in the middle of the night.

Although there were some challenges it was a fun little trip. I enjoyed spending time
with my mom, dad and Alison. We played games, did each others make-up, watched TV
and just relaxed. Here are some fun pictures of our trip:
Unfortunately towards the end of the trip I got an ear infection that burst my ear drum. I
haven’t had my ear drum burst since I was a little girl, but WOW it was painful!! Dave
and I decided to go to an InstaCare on Saturday night so I could get some antibiotics. It
is taking awhile for my ear to heal, but it doesn’t hurt as badly anymore. Now I am just
waiting for my hearing to come back.
